tape drive allocations

One of our tape drives experienced an issue with a tape getting flagged.  This caused the drive to go down, but now only 1 of our 3 tape drives are running.  I believe there may be allocations on the tape drives.  Can I run nbrbutil -resetall command to reset all of the drives without affecting any current backups going to disk? 

I really need to get these reset and not affect any current backup running.

You need to stop all NBU activities before running  nbrbutil -resetall, even disk based backups have allocations.

But you don't have to run nbrbutil -reset all, you can release a single allocation:
