We have BE 2010 running on a 2008 Server. I noticed in task manager that the LUGetUpdateExe.exe process appears four times in task manager. Is this normal? I tried stopping one of them, and it just restarted itself. I restarted all Backup Exec services, which had no effect. Everything appears to be working normal. It just seems like a waste of memory to have this running 4 x's if not needed. Also, Liveupdate shows a 'stopped' state in services, so this only adds to my confusion as to why this process would appear 4 times.

Hi,
Do you have any other symantec product installed on the same server as BE 2010?
You can 1st end process on LUAll.exe & then check task manager
Please refer the below link for more information on the same :

Endpoint Protection is installed as well, but I don't think that had anything to do with this issue...the description in task manager for each instance of LUGetUpdateExe.exe that was running all read 'Back Up Exec Live Update'. LUAll.exe was not running at all, so I couldn't end it, but when I went back and tried to end LUGetUpdateExe, I was able to close them all, and they haven't relaunched...this still doesn't explain why there were 4 of them running, but they seem to all be closed now. Thanks for you input Munir2Fast
