Library Error

Wayne_Watkins
Not applicable
I have an Overland Powerloader DLT8000 connected to a Compaq Server running NT4. Every operation Backup Exec performs i.e.Backup, Restore, Initialise , the following error appears in the job log
"0xa000820a - Library error - a problem, possibly hardware related, has been detected. Cause may be user, device, or system error. Manual intervention may be required."
The library does nothing. Performed diags manually on the Library. Passed OK.
Can anyone give me an indication of what it might be. Already replaced the Library, SCSI cable and terminator.Stil no joy.

Hi,

The error :0xa000820a
occurs normally when there are issues with SCSI settings on the tape device.

- Please check for any Event ID 5s, 7s, 9s, 11s, and 15s that may occur on system startup, or during backup. Refer to the following Dokument:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/255501

- Check whether the tape device is supported by backup exec. You can verify the same from the Backup exec HCL from the following link:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/271383

-If it is listed in the HCL for backup exec then install and apply the latest Veritas drivers from the following URL:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/273853

- If it is compatible but not explicitly tested, then you can install the OEM drivers,

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/253974.htm

- Also update the Firmware and drivers from the manufacturer's site on the scsi controller .
