Licenciamiento Backup Exec

Hola:

Saludos.

You will need following licenses.

1) Backup Exec core product license, install BE on the server which has the tape device connected.

2) Two AVVI(agent for virtual infrastructure) with 1 AVVI you can backup all the Virtuals Machines

    hosted on the physical server.

Note: 1 AVVI per host machine is required.

3) If you want to backup any application then you need an agent which supports that application.

Eg: for exchange you need Agent for Exchange, for SQL you need Agent for SQL etc.

4) Backup Exec core product supports 1 tape drive per library, for every additional tape drive in the

library you will need a LEO.

Thanks.

I think that AVVI is intended for using with VMware, but we're going to use Hyper-V so I think that we're going to need the equivalent agents for Hyper-V. Is there any one for backup exec?

Another question: for backing up network shares hosted in the storage I think about mapping this shares to network drives in one of the physical servers, and backing up them directly to tape; do we need any other license to be able to do this? Is there a better way to backup this files?

Final question: is there any official list of Backup Exec supported tape drives?

Thanks again.

For supported Tape drives you need to check hardware compatibility list of Backup Exec.

There is an AVVI-equivalent agent, AMHV (Agent for Microsoft Hyper-V) for Hyper-V.

To backup your network shares, you need 1 RAWS licence per remote server/device, regardless of whether you install the remote agent on the remote server/device.  You should not map the shares, but define them to BE using their UNC names.
