Getting the following errors when trying to restore files onto a RedHat 4 (kernel version 2.6.9-5.ELsmp) using the Ralus agent:
V-79-57344-33928-Access denied- unable to restore file ld-2.3.4.so, V-79-57344-33928-Access denied- unable to restore file beremote and V-79-57344-65072- Connection to restore target has been lost. Operation canceled.

On the Linux machine it has the error:
Init: Panic: segmentation violation xxxxx

Is there a best practice guide for backing up and restoring Linux machines using the Ralus agent?

Hello,

- What version of Ralus is used?

- Kindly refer the following document:

"A communications failure has occurred" (a000fe30 HEX or e000fe30 HEX) is reported during a failed backup job.

The version of the RALUS agent is build 5629.

The article doesn't seem to be relevant to the problem that I am having.

Hello,

What files are you trying to restore? Are they user files? What account are you using for the restore operation? Is it the root account?

Refer to Chapter B on page 819 in the backup exec admin guide for Windows. It discusses the chapter on RALUS. Here is the link for download:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/279401

Revert with details if the issue persists.

Logged on as root but still getting the errors.

I've read through the documentation and this doesn't have a best practice guide i.e what files to backup and what files to omitt.
