Liveupdate support of BE 2010 R2 in LUADMIN or better

Liveupdate is only good for the outside world.

When you must support within a locked down platform Liveupdate Admin similar to WSUS fo Microsoft is your only viable alternative. Manual downloads is expensive waste of time.

Please tell me you will offer an updating option.

WSUS at least allows for controls of when to apply fixes. Will such administrative controls be offered.

Just for info, issues surrounding the use of LiveUpdate Administrator with Backup Exec in either environments with restricted internet access or environments running other Symantec, LiveUpdate Administrator aware, products are currently under investigation.

As such I have passed details of this new post over to the management teams dealing with the current investigations.

If any other forum customers want to see LiveUpdate Administrator support for current versions of Backup Exec then please add to this post, and if possible vote on the idea located here:

I am using it successfully with Symantec Endpoint V11 for a must stay offline environment. Managing updates at the services nodes ( each server hosting the applications) should be controllable for Backup Exec 2010 ( R2 ) ( R3 ) because of the data integrity of your backup environment. But the vehicle for bringing updates ( all applicable updates ) has to be there (LiveUpdate Admin ).

You might be using LiveUpdate Admin OK for products other than Backup Exec, Unfortunately customers who tried to use it with Backup Exec 12.x found a strange problem that has only recently been identified as an issue with LiveUpdate Admin itself. http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH75527 This problem amongst other reasons is why it cannot currently be used with Backup Exec as there is little point in releasing a product catalog when you cannot reliably use the facility

Backup Exec Infrastructure Management (BEIM)

This product will assist you in keeping your products up to date.  Better than LiveUpdate could ever do.

This is not a free product, though should be IMO.
