I have been receiving the error below for several days now. I have formatted tapes, ran an inventory on them and even purchased new tapes. Rebooted the server several times and still come up with this error. Can someone please help?

Please check to verify that you have no alerts that state to "Insert Overwritable Media". Also check on the job and make sure you do not have an eject on the job if you have an eject on the job look for an alert that states "Please remove the media from the drive". The reason you are getting an error is because someone is actually canceling the backup job, or the system is automatically canceling the backup job due to the rules of the job. Please let me know if this helps.

Hi,

The "Physical Volume Library Media not found" issue could occur if in the backup job properties, "Append to media, terminate job if no appendable media is available" is specified and there is no space to append. Hence, the backup job is getting terminated.

Refer to the following technote for more information:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192180.htm

To check whether the media is appendable, run the changer inventory report and look for the values described in the following technote:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/192180.htm

You may also refer to the following technote:

When running a job to a Backup-to-Disk folder, an alert appears stating: "The Backup-to-Disk folder is offline."

I have it set on Overwrite and no alerts. The backup runs at 11 when nobody is here.

Hi,

We apologize for the inconvenience caused because of the delayed response. Please let us know if your issue / problem is resolved so that we can archive this post. However, if the issues still persist then refer to the steps mentioned below:

To isolate the issue we request you to refer the following steps:

A. First thing check whether the targeted media is in paused state.

B. This problem occurs if appropriate media is not available in targeted media set. To isolate the cause of the issue:
1. Create new Backup to Disk folder.
2. Target same media backup job to newly created Backup to Disk folder.
3. Run this backup job
4. Verify the result

C. Move that media to Scratch Media Set. Run overwrite job. Verify result.
1) Insert a new or erased media and run a overwrite backup job on that media and verify that results.

2) Check whether the backup and restore operations are successful using the native backup utility of Windows (ntbackup) on that media.

We hope this will help.

If we do not receive your intimation within two business days, this post would be presumed to be answered and will be marked as assumed answered and archived.

Thanks.
