Migrating catalogs from v12 to v15

Hi

I have BE v12 (not v2012) on Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) and a new server running BE v15 on Windows Server 2012 (64-bit). I am aware that there is no direct upgrade path from v12 to v15 but that is not a problem as I didn't need to upgrade as I can re-create backup jobs etc.

However what I want to do is to migrate the catalogs from v12 (not v2012) to v15. How do I go about doing this?

You should be able to just copy the .FH and XML catalog pairs across form the 12.5 catalogs folder into the 15 one - (with the BE 15 services stopped when you do it)

 

As these pairs of catalog files will be in a subfolder of the server name on the 12.5 server, I believe you can copy then into the top level of the BE 15 Catalogs folder and as the services start, BE 15 will move them as it indexes them.

I  have v12 not v12.5, do you think you suggested method will still work?
