Hi all,

Got a weird one. I've backup exec 10 d running on Win SBS 2003. Backup job starts every day at 8 pm, but actual mount does not start until 4 am. Just for about 4 times in the past 1 month, mount started at 9.

When I checked alert history, there are only about 8 alerts, which says
Attention Required Media Overwrite Time alert recieved: 2000 Time user responded: 0400.

I'm running with following options:
Overwrite Alert settings - Yes after 5 min
Media overwrite protection - None
Media overwrite options - Overwrite recyclable media.....
Media Set is set to Infinite - Allow Append
Device options in job - Overwrite media
Schedule is to start no earlier than 7PM and no later than 9:30PM

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The job may start late if the device was not available at start time.
Also ensure that no other jobs, which use the same device, are scheduled at the same time

Try a backup on a backup to disk folder.
If you want to overwrite the media, set the media set properties to 0 hours.

Also refer these technotes:

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

There are no other jobs.
There is just one device, and it is not saying offline or paused.
there are no other alerts other than media overwrite which is set to answer yes after 15 minutes.
But it just keeps showing the same ( Media overwrite : Do you want to overwrite allocated media ? )

Tried doing a backup to disk folder. It runs fine. does not wait for 8 hrs or anything... starts running straight away.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
