So far, I haven't been able to accomplish this goal. I have a complete backup of the Dell 1400 server. I've followed the KB 243037, and at the reboot after the restore, I get ntoskrnl.exe corrupt or not found. I've spent 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft, and the system is not coming back up. Dell has been consulted, and they confirm it is not a hardware issue. I'm thinking it's the difference in the PERC controllers, but not sure. My question: Does this actually work? After a half dozen attempts, I've not been able to restore a server completely from backup using Veritas. I've resorted to reinstalling the OS, all the apps, recreating the domain and restoring only the data. I've spent hours upon hours with Veritas support on the phone, and have been worn down or time crunched into the total rebuild. My boss is asking why we use and sell Veritas, because he has not been able to perform this function either. I haven't talked with anyone who has actually gotten this to work properly, either, other than Veritas employees. I have a number of clients that will be replacing their servers this year and into the first quarter of next year, and I need to get this process down to a plan that I can count on. Please help!
