Moving media sets from server to server

Hi,

Is it possible to move a media set from one server to another.

The reason I ask is this:

We were testing BE on a test server that was running an evaluation copy of BE 10. We set up two media sets that were allocated to 2 drives.

We have now bought full version license for BE 10 and have installed the software on to a new server but all of the settings have now gone obviously.

We are not using the Central MAnagement server option.

Any help will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Jamie

I have figured out that I can use BEUtility to move my settings from the old server to the new server. This moves the media sets but none of the Media within those sets which is what I really need.

As usual, any help will be appreciated,

Jamie

Hello,

When placing media in different server, will be scanned and placed in Imported media.

However, if you want to move configuration information from one media server to another you can use the "Copy Media Server Configurations" and "Apply Copied Media Server Configuration" from the BEUTILITY.
You can download softcopy of the manual from the following technote:

Title: VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 10.0 for Windows Servers Administrator's Guide (English)
http://support.veritas.com/docs/269777

{Refer page number 756}

NOTE : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked assumed answered and would be moved to answered questions pool.

Copy the entire \Catalogs directory to the new server, then see http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/272886.htm to force BackupExec to re-index the catalogs, and all your tapes should appear in Restore Selections
