We have BackupExec v 12.5 for Windows Server 2003. Our daily backups go to a device pool called "Daily" that consists of two backup to disk folders on separate hard drives. The devices are named "Primary" and "Secondary".
We want backups to always be written to device "Primary" and only go to device "Secondary" if device "Primary" is unavailable. Instead, the backups are written to media on both devices and there seems to be no way to specify the priority for a backup to disk folder in a device pool This occurs even if all available space on both devices is free.
Is there a way to direct a backup job to a primary device and have a secondary device for failover if the firtst device is unavailable? We don't want to use load balancing with backup data split between muliple devices.
