Hi
I have just installed sap crm on windows 2008 with oracle 11. We use to do normal br backups with windows 2003 with the windows NT backup. Windows 2008 dont have this anymore so we have bought a symantec 2012 with backup exec. I need to set it up. Its a trial version and once we get in workign will buy the agents fro oracle /sap and windows.
I know that it has to install backint into the exe directory and also the biparam file .. but cant find this anywhere..
The Onsite operator installed it and I am not sure if it is is installed correctly.. I am the Sap basis consultant tasked with gettign the backps working..
Can you help
Thanks

Hi,
The SAP agent has been discontinued in BE 2012...the Oracle agent should be able to backup the DB. Oracle 9i and 10G are supported according to the BE 2012 SCL...
You can also read pkh's article on the link below:

Select "Backup Exec Agent for Applications and Databases" to install. That agent will be able to backup oracle.
02-27-2013 06:06 AM
While you have most of the agents available, they aren't all automatically enabled. Run the installation and you will get the option to select a trial agent...select the Agent for Databases and Applications, and let it complete.
Refer to the admin guide for further information on backing up Oracle...
Thanks!

Thanks I tried that but it does not install the oraclel agent .. I dont think I have the full cd

There is no separate oracle agent anymore, it's called agent for Applications and databases.
The article that is refered to is incorectly. It notices an agent for oracle, but read "Applications and databases" instead.
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH189650
Step 1 should be:
1) Install the Backup Exec Agent for Applications and databases.

You should not use the Oracle agent to backup your SAP database. See my blog which has been previously referenced. Since BE 2012 does not support SAP, to properly backup SAP, you should look at NBU, instead of BE.
