New Media Apears as Cleaning Media...

Hi there... I'm running a Dell PE2650 With a 20 slot changer a PV132T Unit from Dell. on a W2003 Server, however I'm still using BE V9.1.

Everytime I insert new SDLT Media into any of the slots, after running a full inventory against the changer it reports that, the newly inserted media is cleaning media...I've tried four new tapes now...Anyone seen this before..?

As a preliminary step verify if the device is comaptibel with BE v9.1.

Please refer the following HCL:

Thanks I've already checked into this, I'm working on 40 + Dell PV132T Units, and they are listed as being compatible with BE V9.1

On the few occassions I have had BE refuse to detect my tape as nothing but a cleaning media, though it wasn't, I found the following to work:

1) Delete the media in question from the "All Media" section
2) Stop all the BE services.
3) Stop the SQL Service for the Backup Exec database.
4) Start the SQL Service as well as the SQL Server Agent
5) Start the BE Services
6) Perform a quick erase on the media in question.

I've only had this problem a couple of times, but the above steps resolved the problem each time.
