New server with reinstalled Backup Exec 10 not overwriting tapes

Ok here is the story. I got a new server running Windows server 2003 and I installed Backup Exec 10 on the server. I have a LTO2 tape drive connected to the server. I went thru the wizzards to get the Backup Exec to the settings that match the old server.

The problem is when I go to run the backup it fails and tells me that the tape has overwrite protection on it. I have the OPP set at 4 days which is one day shorter then the old server had. I did set the new server up at 5 days for the OPP but I saw a post here saying that shorting the days fixed the problem. It didn't work for me.

Any thoughts on this would be great.

Thanks,

Ian

Sounds like the new server does not have the Tapes cross referenced to the database, and thus assumes that the tapes are "imported" adn in protecting them

Which TechNote did you reference to  copy your info to the new server?

There is one that will let you "move to a new server" that includes the database and all settings, that works OK
