BE 10 rev5484
Server has one HP Ultrium, trying to add another and a Seagate as well. After connecting to second SCSI channel, trying to add the devices in BE, receive the following message:
There are no other devices available to be added to this device pool at this time.

All three drives show up without error in the Device Manager.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bryan

Did you rerun the Veritas Hardware Wizard after adding the extra drives?

Hello Bryan,
Do you have an extra LEO License for the extra drives? Only the first Drive is supported by default in Veritas. For all the other driver a LEO (library Expansion Option) shoud be bought.

If you already have one then try the following:
1) Check if the device in the HCL as tested or compatible or tested. If mentioned as tested use the latest Veritas drivers. If your device is mentioned as Compatible use OEM drivers. Please go through the following documents:
Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers Standalone Drives Hardware Compatibility List (HCL)

Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers Robotic Library Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) (includes tested drives) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/274348.htm

VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 10.0 - Device Driver Installer (20050115) - Includes Tape Driver Release (20041231) and Robotic Library Release (45) (Intel Only) http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/273887.htm

2) Update your drives with the latest Firware

3) Run the Device Configuration Wizard of Backup exec (as suggested by Ken)

Thanks for the replies.

1-Device Configuration Wizard does not see the drives either, but they all appear if I go to Configure Devices when it Scans Hardware.
2-All three of these tape drives were installed on a different server using 9.1 just a few months ago with no problem. These are three tape drives that work individually. When did the LEO licensing start?
3-I've downloaded and will attempt to get the Tape Device Driver Install completed when I'm able to restart the server again.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Bryan

Just to clarify, these are stand-alone drives, not part of a robotic library if that helps understand the situation at all.

Thanks,
Bryan

Hi,

What are the SCSI IDs of the three drives?

You may first right click on the drive thats is being detected
first "deactivate" it next "delete" it.

Restart all Backup Exec services
For further reference you may refer the following technote

"How to recreate tape drives and autoloaders in Backup Exec for Windows Servers"

http://support.veritas.com/docs/192144

Hope it helps

Sorry I didn't post this last week. I did restart the BE services and that seems to have correct the issue as all drives are now available. Thanks for all your help.
