Overwritten media

I have a tape which had been used for a backup and is overwritable. Another small backup was preformed over the first but only took up a small amount of the data. Is the rest of the tape (which has not yet been overwritten) available for restore? If so how do I find the files?

If the second job was a overwrite job and overwrot the tap then the data is gone.It started at the beginning of the tape again. If you really need the files then send it off to tape recovery service and they may be able to get it back.

Hello,

Run an Inventory and Catalog job on the tape. If the catalogs indicate that the previously backed up data is still not overwritten and is available for restore, you can restore the data. Refer to the following technote for more information:
