Hi all,
we just trying to backup some vmware guests in a branch office.
The admin in this brachoficce has not alle permissions on a vmware so the backups failed but I can backup the guests with an Vmware Admin Account.
So my question is which permission do the account need to to have to backup the vm guests with BE2012
We are running vmware 5.1
Thank you all.

Hi,
Check the VMware section below to see which permissions the Backup Exec Service Account requires for backing up VMware successfully:

Thanks!

Whilst both CraigV's answer and AmolZeroCool's answer seem to give almost the same information there are some key bits of information in the document posted by Amol that seem to be missing from the CraigV document (which probably means the authors that added the corrections/amendments to TECH129645 as and when new requirements were identified, were completely unaware that TECH130255 contained similar information) The key bits I mention are the the VMware Consolidated backup user does not have all the correct permissions and that if using a Vcenter then some permissions to the OS of the VCentre are also needed.
I will look into the best way to correct this, I suspect a link in TECH130255 to replace the text so we only have one place to update might be the best option
