I have been getting the following error:
Please insert overwritable media in
to the drive.
Overwritable media includes scratch, blank, and recyclable media. Please
note that depending on the current Media Overwrite Protection setting, im
ported and allocated media may be overwritable as well. Consult the onlin
e help for more information on overwritable media.
Respond Yes to acknowledge.
Respond No to retry the operation.
Respond Cancel to cancel the operation.
I do have overwrite enabled for the media set and for the backup job - the funny thing is that this message will occur about halfway through a backup job. The other night, I disabled a number of selections on the job and it was successful....but as soon as I re-enabled 1 more folder for backup, it came back with the same error.
This is obviously driving me nuts!! Why does it in the middle of the backup give me this error and decide it can't all of a sudden write to the tape??!!??
Here are some of the things I have checked and done so far:
- Overwrite protection time is set to 1 hour.
- I have done inventory of all the tapes and they appear blue.
- I have previously moved all the media into the Scatch Media set....made not difference, still got the error halfway through a backup job.
- checked to see whether I was running out of space on the tape, and how much data was being backed up when I got the error - in most cases - it gets to 13 gb (different each time!! ) which doesn't make sense b/c I have a hp dat 24 with dds3 tapes that have hardware compression enabled....the tapes should not be getting full...
I await someone to please help me...ask me questions about what my settings are etc.
Thanks.
