If you are running a backup job , you have an option to eject the tape after complete , you can uncheck it so the tape is not ejected after the job completes.
But incases if the tape which you have in the drive is not overwritable or the backup needs another tape to compelete the job, the tape would be ejected and it cannot be controlled.
You can just avoid this by taking some precaution, like running inventorty beofre the job starts and making sure the tape has sufficent disk space to accomodate the backup set.

...or simply manually erase the tape. But if you have to do this, your Append/OPP settings are either incorrect on the media set, or the person putting the tape in is putting the incorrect tape in.
Thanks!

Feel free to vote on an enhancement that was suggested so that BE doesn't eject the tape so often.
