Hi,
Just got a couple of those myself today. A server restart sorted it out.

Hi
In this current eviorment do you have configuration like child domain & parent domain like backupexec is installed in child domain & using the log on credentials for child domain & not the parent domain as I have seen few issue like this were making new log on account & using the account of parent domain has resolved it
Let me know if that is the same in your case & anyways have this worked ever before
Thank You

Only parent domain, my server is the only DC.

I have a very similar config I think (HP DL360 with Hyper-v, The BE agent is running inside the VM backing up a fiber channel storage device that is directly exposed to the VM). I am running 2010 R2 SP1 but had the communications error on 2010 R2 as well. The error seems to be random. About 30-50% of the time the job fails with this error. It seems to be worse if I am running 2 jobs simultaneously from the same server but also occurs when only 1 job is running. Hope you figure out a solution. ITSmeAffinity if you need logs files from me as well just let me know.
This problem has been causing all sorts of problem for my backups the last 3 months.
Thanks,
Nick

I am also getting this same error. It seems to occur in batches of about 8 at the same time. I cant tie it directly to failed jobs, but I am having numerous random issues at the moment.
I am running Backup Exec 2010 R2 SP1 (all hot fixes available via live update applied) running on a virtual machine under VMWare ESXi 4.1. It is backing up ESXi VMs via the AVVI agent to deduplication store. Only one domain in the forest.

I've been having the same problem since I upgraded to BUE 2010 R2. I found documentation that said the problem was fixed in 2010 R3, so we upgraded. The problem still exists.
Every other day or so, the Backup Exec Job Engine Service fails, subsequently, all the jobs fail. I have to reboot the server to get the service to come back online.
More recently, I'm getting the following error in the event log (probably because it's failed so many times)
EventID 258: "Process bengine.exe requested memory dump but the maximum number of memory dumps has already been reached."
Also
EventID 1000: "Faulting application name: bengine.exe, version: 13.0.5204.109, time stamp: 0x4e18e5ec

...this is a really old post now guys, and if you're not on BE 2010 R3 with SP1 and the subsequent patches, I'd suggest starting your troubleshooting there...

This is not an old problem, whe have 2012 R3 SP1 and the problem ist don't solved.
Every da Event id 258 and 1000 and beserver.exe crash.
The temporär solution is to resstart the service before backup.
And tis on multiple Hp Server with w2k8 R2 and RAM over 30GB.
I think Symantec don't have a solution fpr this problem !!!!!...
