Proper way to change tapes ?

When I change tapes by pushing the eject button on the drive, pop a new one in, I notice under MEDIA, sometimes the old ejected tape still shows as online.  What is the proper way to Eject and Load tapes?

If it matters I'm using a Seagate 9S940 tape drive.

No matter how you do it (push the button on the drive or right click the druive\Eject from Devices tab)

You ALWAYS need to inventory the drive afterwards

Great, thank you.  How I've been able to use this for over a year without knowing this I'll never know.

most of the time, if you do the Right Click\Eject, backup exec is smart enought to know that the old tape is no longer there, but if you use the button on the tape drive, it has no way of knowing

I just trained myself long ago (on v6.11/7.0, I'm dating myself, now, right?     ) to always inventory after swapping tapes, and I've never had any problems
