Purge transaction log during Exchange 2003 dB offline backup

Hi

What will happen to the transaction logs when doing a offline backup of an Exchange 2003?

I shut down the Exchange services and do a backup of the raw files.

if the Exchange Server is truely offline, nothing at all will  be done with the Log files

Hi Ken

Thanks, just needed to be sure.

I have just done a complete backup of our Information Store but afterwards the MDBDATA folder is still containing a lot of transaction log files, shouldn't they be purged when doing a "Full - Database & Logs (flush committed logs)"?

I am back :)

I just tried doing a full backup again and it purges the transaction log files correctly, it just leaves around 5-6 logs in the MDBDATA folder, but I assume they were created after the backup procedure started to purge the files.
