Question on upgrading from 9.1 to 10d

Hi-

We are currently upgrading from 9.1, to 10d. Upon reading through the admin guide, it doesnt seem to mention whether or not I will have to upgrade the remote agent on all windows servers that are currently being backed up via 9.1. Will 10d utilize the same remote agent, or will I need to reinstall a new backup exec remote agent to each Windows server that will need to be backed up?

The manual talks about remote agent installs in regard to setting up a new Backup Exec server, but it's unclear when it comes to upgrading to 10d from a previous version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Though it may worked with 9.1 agents, it is not supported and you should upgrade averything to 10d.

Actually, any v9.x Remote Agent is not supported with v10d

The Backup Exec 10d (10.1) Remote Agent for Windows and NetWare Servers is strongly recommended for use with Backup Exec 10d (10.1) for Windows Servers; the Backup Exec 10.0 Remote Agent is also compatible for the purpose of rolling upgrades with the exception of any caveats listed in the notes. The Backup Exec 9.x Remote Agent for Windows is not supported and not recommended for use with Backup Exec 10d for Windows Media Servers.

(from the SCL at http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278254.htm)\

v10.0 DID support the v9.1 RA, for the purpose of rolling upgrades In other words it would technically work, but constituted a license violation in a production environment

That clears that up. Thanks for the help.
