We are making backup with Veritas Backup Exec 16 (running RMAN scripts) , the client is a Red Hat 6.9 with Oracle Database 12c.
When we launch a DELETE OBSOLETE, CROSSCHECK BACKUP to SBTAPE, takes about 3.5 min to delete each backup piece.

This is the trace of a CROSSCHECK BACKUP (In bold you can see the delay)
When we run a backup the first connection takes about 5 minutes. Once the connection is established the transfer rate is normal. Hosts files are edited in both server to avoid DNS problems, and they are in the same VLAN.

Please review the following article. The issue may related delay cuased by the Oracle Sbtwrite calls during the backup job.

To check Backup Exec specific debug of Oracle you can enable and review the debug logs as mentioned in the following document
