RRAS fails after Installation of BE 10.0 on Win2000

Hi,

After installation of BE 10.0 (a clean installation, not an upgrade) the RRAS service fails to start. Does anyone know what the problem may be here? I have seen some mention of a couple of .dll files that are replaced by the BE installation but all the notes were related to earlier versions of BE. I'm not clear on the relationship between BE and RRAS but I would like to get both working together in the near future!

Thank you.

You may refer to MS article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842696

You may try these steps before uninstalling driver:

1) Put all the BE services in the MANUAL mode instead of automatic.
2) Put the "BESTART.BAT" FILE (C:\program files\veritas\Backupexec\nt) in the start up folder.
3) Reboot the server and check the result.

Now, check if the RRAS services starts successfully or not?

Incase it does not, Apply Sp1:

Incase even after the application of SP1 RRAS does not start.uninstall the driver and start the RRAS service and re-install the driver using tapeinst.

Hi,

I used your debugging procedure to determine if BE was the cause and it was. I then found the following basic procedures that I used to attempt to correct the problem.

1. From the services console make sure you STOP and DISABLE the "Removable Storage" service
2. Uninstalling the OEM drivers for the medium changer: http://support.veritas.com/docs/269214
3. Installing the latest Veritas Drivers for Backupexec 10.0: http://support.veritas.com/docs/275676
4. Reboot the server (Must Do step)

This corrected the problem with RRAS not starting and the backup is working as expected so this problem is resolved. Thank you for you help on this.
