Make sure that you have registered the license for the remote agent on the media server. Ensure that the remote agent service is running using the local system account on both the servers.
Ensure that log account used to perform a push install of the remote is included administrative groups on the BE server as well is a local administrator of the remote server.
Edit the HOSTS file of the Backup Exec server and the remote server and add the machine names of each other and reboot both servers.

The Remote Agent for Windows uses port 10000 to communicate with the BE Media server. If this port is already used by another application then you will not be able to select the remote systems for backup. Perform "telnet 10000" from the command prompt on the remote as well as Backup exec server and confirm that it working.

Re-register MSIEXEC. Open the command line window and execute the following command: msiexec /unreg msiexec /regserver and then perform a local installation:

- create a new user on the remote server. - Give local administrative right to the newly created user. - On the media server, create a new logon account for the new account created. - Replace the logon account in the backup job properties and run a backup job. Verify the results.
