Restore BE for NEtware v9 tapes to Win BE 11d

Hello,
Is it possible to restore data BE 9 Netware to BE 11D Windows?  We have some older tapes that we need to get data from.  Have tried to Catalog, but it complains about not being in the inventory. We inventory and it fails.  IS there any hope?  Or must we revert back to a Netware server running V9 to restore the data?

if the inventory fails, the tape may be bad. 

Even if you can inventory and catalog the tape, if you backed up from a Novell compressed volume, you will not be able to restore to a Windows server
