Restore SQL to another server

Brian_Fuller
Not applicable
I am trying to restore a SQL database to another instance of SQL on another server. When I try to restore the master database using BUExec 10 using the automate master restore option the job runs sucessfully.

However when I go to EM and pull up the instance I can't get the sql service to start.
Both are SQL 2000 SP3

I can restore all of the other databases and have no problems, but not having a master database that matches doesn't really help.

Is there something I am missing here? Does the source and destination server need the same name? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
