Restore backup from another server/installation

Hi, in my organization there are 2 different domain with 2 different installations of BE 11d, connected to 2 different DELL T124.

Our backups are encrypted. One of the two T124 has broken. I'd like to know if there is a way to import on the other installation of BE the encryption keys in order to perform a restore of a tape belonging to the media set of the broken autoloader.

Thank you

Do you know the passphrases for the keys as if you do you can just enter then on the other server.

If you don't know the passphrases then sorry there is no export and the ony way to ensure you don't lose the keys permanenty is to take (non-encrypted) backups of the BEDB itself.

This is the reason why we state keep good records of your passphrases (including any change history if you ever change them)

Note:  Unfortunately you cannot merge the contents of 2 different BEDB so even though you still have a way to protect the keys you cannot use the 2 separate BEDB to make a good working one.

Thank you for your answer. I know passphrase for the keys of the defective autoloader. So, you mean to create a key there with the same passphrase? (below the BE installation connected to the working autoloader)

Yes. This is correct. If your passphrase is correct then when you try to catalog or restore from the tapes from the defective drive, you would not be prompted to enter the passphrase
