How long does it take to restore a few mails to a mailbox with BE 2012? The database is +/- 100 Gb in total.

In BE 2010 it takes about 1 hour for the staging process.

If you backup your exchange server to disk the recovery for mail items can be done in minutes. The problem is if you backup to tape and have to restore from tape it has to write the entire database the mail items are recovering from before it will kick off the recovery.

...the question is like asking how long is a piece of string. Many answers to this, as it is dependant on where you backed up too, what you're restoring too, what you're restoring from, if it restores across a LAN/WAN or locally etc.

If you backup to tape using GRT, it's always going to restore, so work on a minimum of 1 hour to do the staging process.

Thanks!

...thanks, but I am fully aware of how it all works. I've done this plenty of times from BE 11d...

Thanks!
