Restore of older BE backups using BE12

HI there, I have a tape that has been backed up using BE11d.  Trying to restore it using 12, and it keeps giving me the error "The selected media was not found in the catalogs.  You must first catalog the media if you want to use it for restore operations".

However I have done an inventory, then a successful catalog on the tape.

I have even renamed the old catalogs folder, and restarted the services, it then recreates the catalogs folder.  I then re-catalog the tape, but it still throws this error!  I have also tried unchecking the "Use storage media-based catalogs" option to no avail.

Can anyone suggest how to do it?

Try inventorying the media, then moving it to the retired media group, then deleting it.

Then make sure you have no other media with the same name.

Then inventory and catalog again.

It's worth giving it a try, and it has resolved similar problems for me.
