How can i restore a backup to a External HD?

Cause everytime i tried i get the error alert "6" in my backup unit.

And in the backup exec log show corrupted or inconsistent data.

It could be your backup is bad.  To confirm this, restore the same selection to a local harddisk first.

Please be specific as what exactly you are trying to restore. Are you restoring the flat files or some database files as if you try restoring the database then there are different methods for it. Please provide as much infomation as you can to narrow down the problem.
