SBS BE 8.6 services do not start

I recently updated my SBS 2000 server with Windows Updates Services. Updated about 25 updates. Since than I cannot start the Backup Exec services. Logon failure due to username and password. Microsoft had me also run a utlilty file that resets permissions on the Active Directory side because we were having problems with Exchange and AD. How does one check" Logon on as Service" settings of what they should be in local Security and if I decide to upgrade to BE 10.0 for SBS will 8.6 upgrade?

Hi there

In regards to you first question you can use the BEATTACH utility to change Backup Exec services to the correct account. Refer to the following technote http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/265163.htm (under the section Configure Services). This will chnage all the Backup Exec services to the account you specify.

You can upgrade from 8.6. Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers supports direct upgrades from 8.6 and 9.x versions of Backup Exec only.
