SEP halves my backup speed (and doubles the time it takes to perform a backup)

I have Backup Exec 12.0 rev 1364 and SEP 11.0.2000.1567.

When I try and backup a remote server that has SEP installed my backup speed is halved (and the time it takes to backup the server doubles).
See results:

Without SEP installed
Backed up 107943 files in 8039 directories.
Processed 43,950,547,309 bytes in 14 minutes and 35 seconds.
Throughput rate: 2874 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware

With SEP installed
Backed up 107943 files in 8039 directories.
Processed 43,950,547,309 bytes in 31 minutes and 18 seconds.
Throughput rate: 1339 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware

How do I configure SEP not to virus scan any files that BUE is accessing when doing a backup?

Thanks

I did the work around and now I'm getting:

With SEP installed after following Document ID: 306552
Backed up 108131 files in 8062 directories.
Processed 44,008,393,386 bytes in 19 minutes and 51 seconds.
Throughput rate: 2114 MB/min
Compression Type: Hardware

The following, temporary solution, will still work until Symantec Endpoint Protection MR4 has been installed:

1. Exclude the following processes from within Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (Firewall Policy | Rules | Add a rule to allow an application):
(Change C:\ as needed depending on which root volume the Media Server or Remote Agent is installed to)
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\beremote.exe
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\beserver.exe
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\bengine.exe
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\benetns.exe
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\pvlsvr.exe
• C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\BkUpexec.exe
C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\beremote.exe

2. Change the following File System Auto-Protect setting in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager for each profile where an associated client has the Remote Agent for Windows Servers installed (Policies Tab | Antivirus & AntiSpyware | Right Click | Edit | File System Auto-Protect | Advanced Scanning and Monitoring):
• Change "Scan when a file is accessed or modified" to "Scan when a file is modified"
Uncheck "Scan when a file is backed up"
