SQL Server 2000 back-up error for new DB

Hey all,

I've got BE running on a W2k3 SP1 and it is backing up another W2k3 SP1 running SQL 2000 SP4. We are using the latest patch release of 10d.

Now, it was running back-ups fine but we recently added a new DB and that just doesn't back-up at all.

It gives me this error:

Final error: 0xe0008492 - Database Query Failure. See the job log for details.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33938.

Back-up- SERVER
V-79-57344-33938
An error occured on a query to database DB_NAME.

Back-up- SERVER
The item SERVER\DB_NAME in use - skipped.

I've looked at this link - http://eventlookup.veritas.com/eventlookup/EventLookup.jhtml?EvtID=V-79-57344-33938 - but there is nothing in this message that helps. SQL7 was never installed on the box. I've granted all the permissions I possibly can, tried stopping the program that writes to the DB, etc but nothing helps.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hello,

Does the error only come up for the backups of the new database?

Are you also using the advanced open file option for backing up the SQL databases?

Please check out for any errors logged in the SQL Server error log which is located in the Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql\Log directory by default.

Please enable the restrict anonymous support on both the machines with the help of the following dokument:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/238618

Restart all the backup exec services on both the servers after having made the changes.

Yes, the databases that were present when Veritas was installed back-up correctly and still do now.

Advanced file open is off

The ERRORLOG file shows the database back-up for that specific database is not working, but it does not give any detailed information. Is there anything specific you want to know?

I've done this, and it hasn't helped.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks....
