I am currently running Ver. 8.6 rev. 3878. Friday night I had my boss feed in an SDLT tape for the night's backup. The monitor showed the job was scheduled to start at 10pm. Everything looked fine.
When I came in this morning the tape had not ejected as it should have. The monitor shows no job was processed for the 29th, no "belog.txt" file was created. The tape was brand new, but when I did an inventory on it it came back as "". There were no alerts, and nothing in the Server 2000 (SP3) Event Viewer. Under Devices the server is "running". I had seen something similar to this in the past where log entries just up and vanished. I simply stopped and restarted all Backup Exec Services and the 2 missing nights magically re-appeared in the monitor screen. Stopping and starting services did not help this time.
