Schema Version Mismatch

After applying a patch (be5484RHF24_275514.exe) on a version 10 install that was working I am now getting the following errors when trying to start BEWS:

The Backup Exec Server Service detected a schema version mismatch.

and

The Backup Exec Server Service did not start. An internal error (-536813108) occurred in object 1.

I have searched on these two errors in the knowledge base but cannot find anything that seems pertinent.

I have been forced to totally remove the BEWS server and all associated files (using Add/Remove Programs as the cd based installation routine failed). I have then had to recreate the jobs from scratch again.

Any idea what went wrong with the update process - I normally try to keep BE up to date but don't want to install any further patches at the moment.

Thanks, Eddie

Hello,

Try the steps mentioned in the following techntoe and let us know if it helps.

After installing Backup Exec 10.0 for Windows Servers, the Backup Exec Server service fails to start, and Event ID 57802 is logged within the Event Viewer.

Thanks for the suggestion Deepali, I will keep that on file in case it happens again.

I could not try this as I had had to remove and reinstall the software in order to keep the backups running.

Hi, I 've encountered the same error after I performed a IDR.
Mine is Backup Exec 10 build 5520 with SP 1 installed.
I've tried the steps listed in http://support.veritas.com/docs/275032 but it did not resolve the issue.
Any other helplines?
