Sharing 1 backup robot between 2 different backup zones

We have 2 different server zones. We also have a HP backup robot which we are using in only one of the server zones today. What we want is to make the robot take backup of both server zones withouth mixing the backups. The robot have room for a total of 4 tape streamers (only 1 installed today).

My question is : Can Backup Exec ver. 9.1 be set up to only acess one tape streamer each as we need to different backup servers to take the backups today (and thats the way its gonna be). And do this withouth the danger of the two servers/streamers mixing tapes?

Hi Sgtbilko,


Backup job can be targeted to specific partitions. You can schedule the Backup job as per your requirement and select particular partition ( Backup Job Properties | Device and Media | Device).


When robotic library partitions are configured, VERITAS Backup Exec creates a drive pool for each partition. Jobs targeted to a partition drive pool run on the media located in the partition's slots.
