Size and number of files and folders in restored folder different from the number in the backedup folder.

Hi,

I am experiencing the following issue.
I've successfully backed up a folder with these parameters:
Size on disk 20.8 GB
Contains 39.481 files, 1 837 folders
I restored the same folder with file redirection on another drive and got the following result:
Folder restored successfully with these parameters:
Size on disk 17.1 GB
Contains 20.769 files, 1 837 folders

I'm getting the above results from properties of the backed up and restored folder.
We are using Symantec Backup Exec 10d SP4 for windows servers.

Both jobs showed completed successfully in veritas and the byte count for the backed up folder is 23,256,288,360
Byte count for the restored folder is 23,256,288,280

I wanted to free up some space on the server by deleting this folder but how can I trust that all files will be restored if someone needs them?
The discrepancy is almost 19 000 files.

Any help will be appreciated.

Ivo

Hi,
My experience is better with BE12.5, but you should try to take full files details for backup and restore jobs.
And compare the list of files names !

That is hardly an option with some 40 000 files.
