Slow backup using 10.0 and remote agent

We are using the new version of 10.0 for our server and the remote agent on a pc to test to see if this is worth purchasing for servers at our Police Dept.

Well we installed the remote agent on our XP workstation and run a backup job from the server and its only doing like 3 meg a MIN!!!

A local backup of the server does near 400Meg a min. This is a brand new server and workstation, we tried diff. switches and still slow..

Any ideas?? Are there bugs in this remote agent?

Make sure remote agent for windows server service is running on the remote server and the remote agent build is same as Backup Exec Build. (Just right click on the remote Xp machine from BE server and go to properties and check out the version).





Try these steps:

1) set the remtoe NIC to Full Duplex 100MB/sec. If its already set to this mode then change it to "Auto Detec" and check the result.


2) Update NIC drivers.


3) Try copying good amount of data from remote server to the Backup exec server and look for through put rate and check if there is any network issue.
