I am trying to back up about 500GB of data of of a VMServer. I am gettitng speeds of about 5mb/min. If I use the VMWare Vitrual Agent then I am getting over 2000mb/min. I am okay with purchasing the Virtual Agent but I'm afraid that since the GRT restores use the normal Windows Agent for restoring data that I will not find the restore times are acceptable. I will be testing this out soon by restoring some static data to the server this eveing. Anyone have an experiance with slow backups/restores to or from VMWare using the Windows Remote Agent Utility? I am thinking that it must be a setting with in the Guest OS Setup because its only at that level that the slow down occurs?
Any ideas would be helpful!
Running Windows 2008 R2 on VMWare VSphere 4.1. Backup Server is connected to the VMServer using 1GB Ethernet connection.
