Solution for backup deduplication storage

Hi all,

We are using old version of BE and using B2D method to backup all our server, then move the folder to 2 more external hard disk for our offsite backup monthly before.

Now, we upgraded to BE2012 and using deduplication storage to backup all our server to enjoy the benefit of deduplication.

But is it any possible way to backup our deduplication storage (around 6 -7 TB) to the external hard disk (2 x 4TB) for our offsite backup just like before?

To backup your entire dedup folder, you need to backup the shadow copy component of the volume that contains the dedup folder. See this document

Otherwise, you can duplicate the individual backup sets in the dedup folder to your external harddisks.  Note that when you duplicate the deduped backup sets, they are hydrated, i.e. they are expanded back to the original data.

You should not copy/move disks backup sets to another disk.  See this document

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.

I follow up your post and find how to backup the deduplication storage. But as we are not using tape anymore, I just can select backup to disk.

As our dedup storage is around 6-7TB and now we only got 2 x 4TB hard disk and it seems cannot backup all to data in one single hard disk.

So is there any method it can backup to 2 separate hard disk or duplicate individual backup set one by one is our only option?

BE 2012 does not span disks, so you cannot back up the entire dedup folder.  You can only duplicate the individual backup sets.
