Storage issues

Hi

I have been using Backup Exec version 9.0 for some time without many issues but I have a worrying is problem that I can't understand. My weekly and Monthly backups contain in the region of 291GB. However my Device and Media info in the job log reports the use of only 1 Ultrium LTO tape to backup all that data. I thought the limit was 200gb compressed. Where is the rest of my data writing too?

Data compression varies with the type of data, and the data itself. See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/199542.htm

You can try a run with Software Compression only, and will see the compression achieved in each step in the job log.

The SW compression will not be exactly what the HW compression is, but it will be close.

Thanks a lot. I figured it was some kind of software compression but not being able to actually gaurantee this made me somewhat nervous.
