Tape drive in use


I'v got a problem becouse, my tape drive has status (In use) and i cannot make any backup 

I try to restart the server, restart the tape drive, pause the server and tape drive in backup exec and nothing helped 

I'm using Windows server 2008 and symantec backup exec 12.5

Hi Matthew,


Remove the drive completely from Windows Device Manager and BE before disconnecting it from the server physically.

Restart the server and verify the drive doesn't show up in BE or Device Manager. Reconnect the drive, start it up, and then start up the server. Run tapeinst.exe to install the Symantec drivers for the drive.

If it still gives issues, then I'd recommend getting hold of the manufacturer's diagnostic utility to rule out hardware issues.
