Tape immediately ejects?

Jonathan_Berry

I have been running successful backups for months now, but suddenly one of my tapes will not load. When I put it in the drive it reads for a moment and then ejects. Now last night we lost power for a while and when I came in to load today's tape, I am getting the same issue. I have 5 tapes one for each day of the week. 3 are working no problem, but two will automatically eject. Any Ideas?

Sounds like the header is corrupt

If you shut down all BackupExec services, do the tapes still eject immediately if you try NTBackup? If not, try re-labeling the tapes and try them ib BackupExec again

I shut down all services, but the tapes still spin for a minute and then eject. To clarify, they spin for approximately 4 minutes and then eject.

I cannot keep them in the drive, so I am unsure how to proceed?

The tapes are probably bad

Purchase some new ones
