Test Run Succeeds, Job Fails

Chris_Clark_3

I set up a job to go out and backup several of my servers.
When I do a Test Run of the job, it ends with a Successful status.

Yet, when I run the job itself, it ends with a Failed status.
When I view the job, it says "The job failed with the following error: A communications failure has occurred between the Backup Exec job engine and the remote agent. "

Why would the test be successful, but the actual job fail? That makes little sense.

I think it depends on what a test does. If it only connects to the agent and does not try to backup any file then it could fail when trying a backup for real.

You could try to make a small backupjob to see if it works. The problem is that there are more than one reason that communictation with an agent can fail. (see the knowledgebase)

Hello,

How many servers you are backing up in this job ?

Does the backup fails on a specific server ?

Please mention the exact error code and the error message reported in the job log.
