The Disk is Offline

I need help,

Backup Exec comes up with error:

The disk is offline.

This is a typically caused by the fodler becoming inaccessible due to it being deleted, renamed or unshared. It may also be caused by a disk full condition. The fodler state has been set to offline. please attend to this condition....

The USB storage device is accessible and folders haven't been deleted or unshared. Have updated backup exec and still same error.

(I used 2 x USB externals rotating them weekly for my backups) Have been working fine for months untill last week.

Please help?

Hi

If you have confirmed the disk is accessible from start run of Media server please try restarting the services once & see if it bring back it online.

Also look for any events in events in event viewer as you said all was working fine till last week so see if you have connection terminated or loss or any h/w error there

Thanks

If the above KBs do not work, try recreating the Disk Storage...

Delete the Disk Storage from the UI (this will not delete any actual data, just the storage from UI)...Delete the folder.cfg & changer.cfg files from the actual USB.. If a folder named BEControl is present, delete the same as well... Choose to configure the Disk Storage with the same path/name as the original & monitor if you get the same error or not.

Before you delete the storage, you can try pausing and unpausing the storage and see whether you get any errors.

You might also want to test the disk using this utility

B2Dtest.exe
