    Hallo!

   We have licenced Symantec Backup Exec 2010 with Desktop and Laptop Option and installed Deduplication Option for trial period of 60 days (but we were not using it) that we upgraded from 12.5 version.  60 days after we made upgrade, we have problem backing up Windows 7 computers. Although we have properlly licenced Backup Exec, we are receiving the following error: 

   "The job failed with the following error: Before you can back up this resource, you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent. See Job Log for details."

   "License Violation
A Remote Agent for Windows Systems license is required for protecting remote servers with this edition of Backup Exec."

  Job copletion status:

  "Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000fe3c - Before you can back up this resource, you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent. See Job Log for details.
Final error category: Security Errors"


  Please help us to resolve this issue.

The licence keys for BE 2010 and BE 12.5 are different.  After you upgraded from BE 12.5, did you install the licence keys for BE 2010?  You can check your licence status by going to Help --> About and click on the Licence Information button.  This will tell you the licence status of your BE.



Are you backing up your Windows 7 machines  using remote agents or DLO?

The error message seesm to show you are using RAWS not DLO for the Backup so will need a RAWS license now that the Expiry period is over.

The DLO agent which comes as a 5 user license with the product is a different management console and different agent.

Main Differences are
DLO Agent is user based and designed only to protect an individual users data in the system - but does give Incremental level PST file protection if Outlook is on the system
RAWS agent is is machine based and protects the complete file system as if it was a server but does not do the incremental PST management

   New licence keys were installed after the upgrade so that wouldn't be an issue. I've checked licences status, there is an attach to this replay with a printscreen, everything seems normal to me. We use Remote Agents for Windows not DLO.

   Again, the problem started 60 days after the upgrade, but only on Windows 7 machines. Windows XP are not affected.

According to your printscreen, you do not have any Remote Agent for Windows System licence.  See below for a proper licence

After installing Backup Exec 2010 and purchasing 14 server licenses, I am getting an error message when trying to back up one particular server. It is a Lotus Notes server, but did not purchase the Lotus Notes agent, so basically it is being treated as a regular file server.

The error is:

We have enough licenses, so I am not sure why I am getting this error.

1st check what all option you had installed in evaulation? Check the selection list if you have something selected for which you dont have license eg Sql agent installed in evalaution and you are backing up the backup exec Sql database , later when the evalaution period is over the Sql selection would not show in the selection and you have to manually remove the selection fron the selection detail (text view)

Recreating the backup Job would fix such issue .

Also can you let us know the detail on what all stuff you are backing up and what license you have installed
