Also make sure you are on BE 2010 R3 with SP3.
Thanks!

Hello,
Are you running backups to tape or disk ?
This generally happens when you BE asks you for an overwritable media ( asks you for another media ) and it pops up an alert and if you do not respond to that alert then the Backup gets cancelled.
You can configure this alert (media insert or media overwrite) to be set to respond automatically to a yes or a no in the alert settings.
More Information on the issue would be helpful
-Backups to disk or tapes ?
-When do you get this alert ?
Regards

We backup data to tapes every day night.
If I do the change in alerts, will the job back up the remaining data?
It says a one more error as well,
"the .dr file that is required for intelligent disaster recovery is not updated. backup exec"
We get this alert after 5hrs from the start of the job.
Many Thanks

NO you have to rerun the job from the start.
"the .dr file that is required for intelligent disaster recovery is not updated. backup exec"
This error will come if the job job for C:\ or system drive fails and you the IDR (intelligent disaster option ) feature enabled if the job is complete you will not see this error
Look like the job is spanning to 2 tapes and after BE fills the first tape it cannot find an overwritable tape..or its waiting for someone to respond to an alert.
Before running the backup make sure both the tapes (if job goes to 2 tapes) are associated to the scratch media (data loss if job is using the tape) and alerts are set as discussed above.
